The family and friends of Helen Abshire are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life on June 1, 2020, at the age of 82. Helen was born in Gueydan, LA. to George Reese, Sr. and Laura Moore on October 19, 1937. She was a Nurses Aid and a parishioner of St. Peters Catholic church in Gueydan, LA. Helen loved to crochet, and make quilts. She was a meticulous housekeeper, was always there for anyone who need a helping hand, as well as having a great sense of humor and she loved making people laugh. Helen especially loved the time she spent with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Helen is survived by her son, Maxie P. Abshire (Margaret) of Gueydan, LA; her two grandchildren, Kelsey Letchworth, Ryan Breaux; her six great grandchildren, Kailey Perrodin, Cullen Perrodin, Kinzley Lynn Letchworth, Kyler Paige Letchworth, Kasity Blaike Letchworth, Hadleigh Marie Breaux; her two great-great grandchildren, Channing Gaspard, EllaRee Perrodin.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, George & Laura Reese, Sr.; her beloved husband, Wallace J. Abshire; her daughter, Donna Reese Breaux; her grandson, Byron Reese; as well as ten siblings.
Funeral services will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Gueydan on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at 4:30 PM with Father Corey Campeaux officiating. Burial will follow in the Gueydan Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Gueydan on Wednesday, June 3rd from 9:00 AM until the time of her funeral service with a Rosary recited at 2:00 PM by Sheryl Portie.
