Actor. Herd was an actor in film, television and stage. After a brief stint in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he headed to New York, where he studied acting and art and started his career on the stage. His first major role in film came in the movie "The China Syndrome" in 1979 where he played the corrupt Chairman of the California Gas & Electric Board. This role helped to make him an international name, and All The President's Men in 1976 was another big name film he was in. On television, he was a regular on T. J. Hooker in the early 80's as Captain Dennis Sheridan. He also appeared on Star Trek: Voyager, Seinfeld, Yankees, M*A*S*H, The Rockford Files just to name a few of the 45 films and television shows he appeared in during his career. He also did 4 voice roles. He made his first appearance in "Hercules in New York" in 1970 and his last in 2018 in "The Mule". He served as the third National Vice President of the Screen Actors Guild and was in the Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
