With great sadness, we share the news of the passing of Richard "Dickie" Alan Stambovsky -- Avraham Yitzchak - on Monday, May 18th. Born on August 5, 1949 to Ruth Stambovsky and the late George Stambovsky in Springfield, Massachusetts. Richard grew up in the Forest Park area of Springfield. He attended the local schools where he developed many lifelong friendships. He loved basketball! He spent most of his life on the basketball courts in Forest Park or the Springfield Jewish Community Center. His skills were amazing, but his hook shot was unbelievable. He graduated from Classical High School and then from American International College. Additionally, Richard was a former Sergeant in the Mass. Army National Guard. He worked at the Western Mass PSRO, Gandara Mental Health Center, and was the President of PBS Associates. He worked as an accountant in the area for the last 40 years. He was a loyal and trusted friend and businessman to many. He had a strong work ethic and went above and beyond to provide for his large family. Richard was a strong believer in his Jewish faith and longtime member of the former Kesser Israel Synagogue. Richard was always there for everyone; there was always a seat at his dinner table for anyone who needed it. He loved the beach, fishing, trips to Puerto Rico with his wife, hot dogs, chicken wings, pickles, and hot peppers, but more than anything he loved and lived his life for his children and grandchildren. He was the beloved husband of the late Diane Stambovsky and beloved father of the late Desiree Tranghese. He leaves beloved siblings Edward, Cheryl and Sandra; daughters Heather, Aimee, Sarah, Jennifer, and Mariah; sons Alan, Brett, Justin, Zachary, and Joshua; in-laws Chris Tranghese, Joshua Freedman, Elizabeth Brewer, Jose Martinez, Modesto Cintron, Jennifer Hanks, and Michael Bridger. Richard leaves grandchildren Kyle, Alex, Michael, Jacob, Takara, Victor, Zakira, Nathan, Adrianna, Jaiden, Mason, Kendra, Sebastian, Brianna, Bentley, Oliver, Kayla, Joseph, Carmello, and Carly. Richard was full of strength and determination as he put up a hellacious battle against COVID in his last days. He left peacefully after saying goodbye to all of his children.
