Sabreen "Ms. Alfretta" Abdullah
March 22, 1925 - May 10, 2020

Sabreen Abdullah aka Alfretta Mae Emerson, Aunt Mae, Miss Alfretta and Miss Allen at the age 95, passed on Sunday May 10, 2020 at home surrounded by loved ones. She was a rare and special individual who treated all life with respect. During her journey she began in Missouri, also resided in California, Texas, Indiana and ended in Illinois. She left her mark of brilliance, supreme caring and honorable service wherever she lived or worked and always became the favorite unofficial distinguished humanitarian amongst her peers or supervisors.

She was born on March 22, 1925 to Sherman and Udell Emerson in the city of Fulton, Missouri and was the second eldest of five children. From an early age, Alfretta exhibited great scholastic aptitude and by the time she entered middle school, her spelling mastery took off along with the excellence in many other subjects which helped her earn the distinguished salutatorian alternate honors. Although racism was rampant during her early formative years along with a meager subsistence, nothing prevented her or classmates from accomplishing outstanding educational milestones. Her struggles were enormous, her resilience incredible and yes she was among one of the world’s most highly accomplished generations. The honorable Dr. George Washington Carver once visited her school for a presentation, dedication and joyous event in which he danced with all the female students including her. During her adult years she primarily worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant and a Physical Therapist Aide. She also earned Child Development credentials in the 1980’s from Lincoln Land Community College.

As a mother she was superb and always displayed supreme love for all of her offspring. Her selflessness and uncommon concern for others was a prevailing trait of hers. Even the squirrels and birds seemed to exhibit a unique quasi fondness for her. Her spirit was far reaching and totally captivating. Our beloved Sabreen was truly an amazing individual who always made time, effort and whatever support she could muster for a loved one, a neighbor or even a homeless soul. She could be thought of as a beloved enduring friend or neighbor of nature. May your spirit abound us and guide us in the future as you venture to the hereafter. Thank you for your mountain of love that protected us and touched a multitude. Farethewell, oh beautiful Angel.

She was preceded in death: by her parents; Sherman and Udell Emerson, three brothers; Clyde Emerson, Twin brothers; Walter& William Emerson, one sister; Lennie Belle Newman, two nephews; Robert Noble Newman Jr. and John Recardo, and one niece; Ruthann Hunter-Okasor.

She leaves five children; Zevernett Holloway, Ezra Abdullah ( Kevser Kocak), Jeffrey Allen, Francine Jackson and Michelle Allen Hardy(Carl Sr.) 12 grandchildren; Tameria Wynne ( Eric), Arteria Galbreath, Charles Holloway III (Jennifer) , Ezra Allen ( Shavon), Marwan Akil Allen ( Patrice), Ezra Berk Abdullah, Tamika Allen, Tiffney Jackson, Lance Jackson(Brittany) , Anthony Phillip Jr., Tanielle Phillips and Carl Hardy II; 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren, “5 generations four times”, two nieces Linda Bryant of Springfield Illinois and Toni Newman of Milwaukee Wisconsin and a nephew Kunama Mtendaji of St. Louis Missouri.
