Wil, or Foots as he is known to his family graduated from Bay High School in Bay St. Louis, Ms in 1962. He went on to graduate from the University of Southern Mississippi, eventually earning his master's degree in 1977. He served in the Vietnam war and he worked as a teacher in Mississippi, California and New York up until his death in 2016.

Wil was a traveler, having been to several countries throughout his life. He is remembered as a teacher, kind-hearted liberal and friend. He was one of the first people to be married in California when gay marriage was legalized. He is followed in death by his parents, William Jennings and Avis Morreale. He is survived by his husband Dignan, brother Eddie, and his niece and nephews.
