Mr. Donald Franklyn Aitken, age 81, a resident of Belington and more recently of Courtland Acres Rehabilitation Center at Thomas, WV, departed this life Saturday evening, March 21, 2020 at the care facility, following a brief illness.

He was born January 17, 1939 in Baltimore, MD a son William Henry and Edna Evelyn Waters Aitken. On March 17, 1971 he was united in marriage to the former Eleanor June Tacy, who preceded him in death in 2001.

He is survived by three sons, Eric Douglas Aitken and wife Kelly of Belington, Brian Keith Aitken and wife Stefanie of Lititz, PA, a step-son; Walter Delano Cannon and wife Bonnie of Berkeley Springs, WV and one daughter, Deborah Ann Tysor and husband Roger of Elkins. Also surviving are his eight grandchildren, Zachary, who is serving in the U.S. Air Force Academy, Victoria, Alivia, Brandon, Brianna, Fallon, Rylee, and Skyler.

In addition to his parents William and Edna and wife Eleanor June, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur Stanley Aitken and William Henry Aitken.

Mr. Aitken attended the schools of Baltimore, MD, and was a Veteran of the US Navy having served from 1956 to 1959. He was employed as a Certified Welder most of his adult life. He was a member of the Elkins Masonic Lodge #108 AF&AM. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and was a Christian by faith. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

At the request of Mr. Aitken his remains will be cremated and a celebration of life will be held later in the spring at his family farm. The Talbott Funeral Home in Belington is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Donald Franklyn Aitken.
