Norma R. Shepherd (nee Zielke), age 94, of Romeoville passed away peacefully at Silver Cross Hospital on Tuesday, October 23, 2018.

Born on March 17, 1924 in Lemont, Norma was the daughter of the late Rudolph and Caroline (Steinke) Zielke. Norma married Robert L. Shepherd on April 12, 1947 and raised their children on farms in Lockport and Homer.

She is survived by her three children, Linda (Robert) S., Carolyn (Bobby) S., and Robert (Rose) S. Seven grandchildren. Seven great-grandchildren. One sister, Lois B., sister-in-law Barbara Z. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Shepherd Jr. (1972); parents, Rudolph and Caroline Zielke, her in-laws, Robert H. and Mabel (Stafford) Shepherd Sr., two sisters, Mildred (George) Dallner, Bernice (Robert) Hunter; two brothers, Marshall (Alice) Rieck and Richard Zielke.

Norma was a devout member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lockport. A member of the St. Paul's Ladies Aid Society and a past president of the Homer Volunteer Fire Dept. Auxiliary in Homer. The family will receive friends at Goodale Memorial Chapel, 912 S. Hamilton St., Lockport, IL 60441 on Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM. Lying in State, Friday, October 26, 2018 from 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1500 S. Briggs St., Lockport, IL 60441. The Rev. Mark Hein, officiating. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park, Joliet, IL.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Paul's Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
