Marcia Anne Davis, a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Woodbridge, VA, passed away on March 26, 2017. Marcia was born to Marie and Ewin Davis on August 16, 1944 in New York. She was a wonderful child who grew up in a loving home.
Trained as an accountant, Marcia worked in that position until she had her children. After they were born she continued to do some accounting on the side helping people by doing their taxes. She later became a secretary at Saunders Middle School, a position she remained in for about 30 years.
She loved to walk in the neighborhood and exchanged pleasantries with all she met along the way. As an active member of the First Baptist Church she sang in the Choir, something she enjoyed. She loved the Lord and that showed in all she did.
In November, Marcia had open heart surgery. The surgery was a great success, and she felt better than she had in years. Many of her friends reached out to her during her recovery which helped so much. The past few months were the happiest she has been in years. Thank you to all who helped her during this time.
Marcia is survived by her sons, Mark Otley and his wife Stephanie of Ashburn, VA, Michael Otley and his wife Melissa of Richmond, VA. She loved being a grandmother to Lydia, Benaiah, Isaac, Caleb, Naomi, Zachariah, Josephine, and James Otley who will miss the time they spent with her. Also left to mourn her is her sister Linda Hall and her husband Cleve Hall of Spring Hill, Tennessee; sister Bonnie Davis of Lexington Park, Maryland; sister Kathy West of Stafford, Virginia; sister Joan Davis of Baltimore, Maryland; sister Susan Evans and her husband Tom Evans of Stafford, Virginia; sister Peggy Littrell and husband David Littrell of Union, Kentucky; and brother Paul Davis and his wife Loretta Davis of Bladenboro, North Carolina. She also leaves behind her former spouse Jim Otley and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, March 30 from 6 - 8 PM at Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home 13318 Occoquan Road in Woodbridge, VA 22191. A celebration of life service will take place on Friday, March 31 at the First Baptist Church of Woodbridge, VA starting at 11am. Interment will be private.
