Services for Miss Zeffie Louise Brewer, 50, Dallas, formerly of Tyler, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Dallas with the Rev. C.W. Wallace officiating.

Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery in Tyler under direction of Golden Gate Funeral Home in Dallas.

Mrs. Brewer died Thursday at her home.

She was born Feb. 19, 1942, in Tyler to Esther Lee and the late Homer Brewer. As a young girl, she was a member of Greater Hopewell Baptist Church and Greater St. Mary Baptist churches of Tyler and later Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church of Dallas. In recent years, she was affiliated with Nichiren Sho Shu of America. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and Phi Delta Kappa, an education professional organization. As a young girl she moved with her family to Chicago and then to Dallas, where she graduated from Madison High School. She returned to Chicago and graduated from Roosevelt University, earning a bachelor's degree in education and business. She did postgraduate work at Loyola University in Chicago and became a certified public accountant. She also recently completed contracting school and was to receive her certificate May 12, 1992.

For 25 years she worked as a teacher in Chicago public school system. She also worked as an accountant for several firms in Chicago and for her own accounting business. She later joined the staff of Cortez Business College and served as Dean of Students. In 1988, she returned to Dallas.

Over the years she was involved in developing and running a few business ventures, some of which include Black Pride Beer Co. of Chicago, Brewer and Associates Financial and Management Consulting, State of Texas Insurance License and Black Pride Contracting Co., which was current. She was a certified notary public.

Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Esther and Luther Tate, Dallas, a sister, Verna Tate-Harlins, Oakland, Calif., four aunts, Lois Black, Tyler, Fayetta Brewer, New York, and Nina Wilkerson and Princelle McNutt, both of Oakland, Calif.; two uncles, Henry Lee, Dallas, and Lamar Lee, Seattle, Wash.; and many cousins.

Pallbearers include family and friends.
