Kurt Adler was born in Neuhaus, Austro-Hungarian Empire, currently in Czechoslovakia on 1 Mar 1907 to Siegfriend Adler (26 Jun 1876 to abt 15 May 1942) and Olga Furth Adler (3 Apr 1883 to abt 15 May 1942).
Kurt left from Holland to the United States on 9 Oct 1938. Both of his parents died in the Belzec Extermination Camp in Poland. His grandparents Jakob and Eveline are buried in the Newhaus Hebrew Cemetery. He received his education in Vienna. He was a pianist, a conductor and a chorus master. He had a long career with the New York Metropolitan Opera from 1943 to 1973. He spoke many languages and conducted all over the world. He first married Irene W. McNutt AKA Irene Hawthorn (her stage name) on 10 Mar 1948. She was a prima ballerina with the New York Metropolitan Opera. He married second to Christiane Tocco on 16 Sep 1965 and had 2 lovely children. He died in New Jersey and was cremated.
