Inveterate tinkerer. His idea of fun was to dismantle an auto engine and reassemble it over a weekend. He had a mechanical mind and was able to fix just about anything from attaching the head of a doll to repairing the circuit board of a radio. After serving in the United States Army as a medic in the Pacific Theatre he earned his GED and began a lifetime of government service as a Civil Service employee. He was considered one of the nicest, kindest, gentlest individual anyone ever met. A Deacon of his church he was deeply religious.
