Mr. Melvin Laird, 85, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2020 in Conroe, TX.
Mr. Laird was born March 20, 1934 in Houston, TX to Hillard and Della Laird and was a longtime resident of Houston and the surrounding area. He graduated from Aldine High School in 1952 and was a member of the Church of Christ.

Melvin loved to play golf in his younger years, and was an avid watcher of golf on television in his later years. He also loved to play cards and to tell a good joke. His sense of humor was outstanding and all that know him can tell of a funny story that he was the main character in or recite some of his jokes. His passion was "doing business" and as an entrepreneur he enjoyed traveling the states as well as other countries meeting people of all walks of life.

Melvin was preceded in death by his son, James Allen Laird, his parents, and his brothers Raymond and Ivan (Arnel) Laird.

His is survived by the mother of his children, Carol Laird, daughters Lane Hamaker and Melva Laird, son Stephen and wife Teresa Laird, sister Jeanette McAfee, grandchildren Amy Laird, Brittany and husband Brian Evitt, Stephen Laird II, Chase Laird-Burkholder, James Laird, great grandchildren Kyleigh, Gavin, Harleigh, Eli, Corbin, Emery, Kaitlyn, Jessica, and a host of family and friends. Melvin will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

The immediate family will lay Melvin to rest at a private graveside service on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Memorial Oaks Cemetery at 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Tx.77079

Due to the current COVID 19 (Coronavirus) health concern, a Memorial Service will be held at Memorial Oaks at a later date.
