On August 27, 1924, Bertha was born in Anadarko, Oklahoma.
After moving to Hagerman, NM, with her family. She met the love of her life, Dolphus Ray Allen, they married in August 1942. Ray and Bertha were married for sixty-six years. Their first and only child, Louann Allen Metcalf, was born the following year.
Bertha was a hard worker and worked her whole life. She worked as a cotton picker, waitress, maid, and in receiving for Sears for forty years. She enjoyed visiting with her family and going to the casino.
Preceding Bertha in death are her husband, Ray Allen; her only daughter, Louann Metcalf; parents, Clarence and Ethel Courtney Harman; and her siblings: Juanita Estes, Annabelle Lucas, Viola Jay, Lucille Skipper, Clarence Harman Jr, Kathleen Childs, Vivian Harman, and Jimmy Harman.
Bertha is survived by her son-in-law, Johnnie Metcalf; grandson, John Metcalf and wife Tracy; one great-granddaughter, Victoria Metcalf; brother, Charles Harman; sisters: Mable Lard, Reba (Joyce) Pearson, and Shirley Murry; along with many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation (www.alzfdn.org).
