Makeup Artist. Tuttle was Metro Goldwyn Mayer's makeup chief from 1950 to 1970 and he became the first in his profession to win an Academy Award. Tuttle's career encompassed more than 300 films such as "The Wizard of Oz," "Julius Caesar," "The Teahouse of the August Moon," "Jailhouse Rock," "North by Northwest," "Mutiny on the Bounty" and "Young Frankenstein." Two of his most recognized works were "7 Faces of Dr. Lao" and particularly, his creation of the underground-dwelling Morlocks for the popular 1960 movie version of H.G. Wells's "The Time Machine." Tuttle also received an Emmy nomination for his makeup work on the CBS special "Babe" (1975), about golfer Mildred "Babe" Didrikson Zaharias.
