Enid May Hacker, April 19, 1920-June 2, 2011, resident of Palo Alto, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on June 2, 2011, at age 91.

She was born in Bexhill on Sea, Sussex, England in 1920. She graduated from the Royal Society for the Arts in London in 1935. While working in London during WWII she met her husband Aubbie Hacker who was serving for the US Army. She came to California to wed Aubbie in 1947, settling in Burlingame. They moved to Palo Alto in 1950, where she spent the remaining 61 years. Enid retired from Bank of America after 29 years of service. She worked at many different branches including the original South Palo Alto branch. She held many positions including VP of loans in the San Jose branch. Enid did volunteer work for Palo Alto Cultural Center, B of A Retirees Assoc. and Christ Church of Portola Valley. She was an active member of Christ Church for over 30 years and found great joy in her friendship with members of the congregation. Enid loved painting and attending art classes. She loved the outdoors, and enjoyed tending to her garden and walking the Shoreline loop. She was an avid reader and enjoyed travelling, particularly to her native England. A loving mother, Enid took pride in her children's accomplishments and was most happy when surrounded by all of her family.

She is survived by her sisters Jeanne Roles of Edmonton, Alberta and Betty Furrell of Bexhill on Sea, her loving children Susan Ross (Gary) of Grover Beach, Jeff Hacker (Judy) of Palo Alto, Mark Hacker (Stephanie) of Los Gatos and James Hacker (Veronica) of Carmel Valley. Enid is also survived by her dear grandchildren Alesia, Christopher, Jayme, Trevor, Lauren and Allison.

Out of sight, never out of mind, always with us, present with the Lord. In lieu of flowers please gift to the Christ Church or a charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held for family and friends at Christ Church, 815 Portola Valley Rd, Portola Valley, CA on Saturday, June 25 at 11 am.
