"14-Year Old Girl Drowns in Perche was on Outing Party.
Burial of Miss Murry Jones will take place at Bethlehem Church today or tomorrow. Dr. Lloyd Simpson with pulmotor fails to revive drowned girl.

Miss Jones was drowned at 11 o'clock yesterday morning, while wading in Perche Creek, near Fenton's Ford. She was one of a party of eight girls who had gone for a day's outing to the creek with the Rev. and Mrs. J.H. Jenkins.
Miss Jones, with a friend, Miss Coffman of High Hill, was sitting on a stump in the creek and the two had been talking about their swimming ability, when both slipped off the stump into a deep water hole, 20 feet deep. Miss Coffman was able to swim and she held Miss Jones up while she swam ten yards but finally her hold gave way and Miss Jones sank for the third time. Miss Coffman's screams brought the Reverend Jenkins, who was compelled to dive three times before he recovered the body. Dr. Lloyd Simpson was called and a pulmotor from the Parker Memorial Hospital was taken to the scene of the accident, but the girl could not be revived."
