Son of Henry Tom & Nancy Lou (Rogers) Adair born in Waxahachie, Texas on July 1, 1913. He was the youngest of their seven children
Elmer married Ruth Margaret Ayers on December, 15, 1942 in Los Angeles, California. They met at Douglas Aircraft Company where they both worked. Elmer was an inspector for the aircraft company, Their daughter, Ruthe Margaret, was born October 31, 1943. They resided at 1419 Franklin Street, Santa Monica, California.
William went on a hunting trip for quail near Santa Ynes Valley on Saturday, December 18, 1943. He suffered an accidental gun shot wound when they arrived. He attempted to remove a 12 gauge shotgun from his car when it discharged. The bullet entered his left thigh hitting his hip bone as the muzzle of the gun was only six inches away from his hip when it discharged. He did not think the gun was loaded. He was given first aid treatment by a doctor on the scene. He was then brought to Our First Lady of Perpetual Help Hospital, Santa Monica where he had surgery. However, he died the following day, Sunday, December 19, 1943 Their baby girl was only three weeks old.
Burial took place December 23, 1943 at Inglewood Mausoleum at Inglewood Park Cemetery,Inglewood, California.
