JoAnn Faye Abbey, 69, Spearfish, died Monday, July 30, 2007, at her residence in Spearfish.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 3, 2007, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel with Pastor Hans Sacrison officiating. Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.

JoAnn was born June 22, 1938, at Regent, N.D., to Joseph and Marion (Davidson) Wagendorf. She grew up in the Hettinger area and attended Hettinger schools.

JoAnn married Eugene "Gene" Abbey at Mott, N.D., on April 12, 1955. Following their marriage, they lived near Mott before moving to Hettinger, N.D., New England, N.D., and later, Red Lodge, Mont. They returned to Hettinger where she worked at the Pepsi Plant and the Ben Franklin. In 1984, they purchased Bridgeman Distributing where they delivered dairy products over a wide area. In 1994, they retired. JoAnn and Gene moved to Spearfish in the fall of 2001.

JoAnn's hobbies included playing cards, bingo, and going to Deadwood. She also crocheted afghans, one for each of her family members.

She is survived by her parents, one son, two daughters, one brother, one sister, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband.
