BERT EUGENE SHAVERS
Bert Eugene Shavers, 67, of Austin, passed away on Monday, March 9, 1998.
Born January 20, 1931, in Thorndale, Texas, Bert was the son of Henry Bert and Lovie (Locklin) Shavers. They preceded him in death.
Mr. Shavers served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. As a long time Austin resident, he was employed as a supervisor with the Texas Department of Highways and Public Transportation for almost 40 years before he retired.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Bonnie Faye Shavers; his daughters, Debbie Lynn David of Taylor, Paula Renee' Shavers of Spicewood; his son, David Wayne Shavers of Austin; brothers, Don Shavers of Odessa, Billy Wayne Shavers of Thorndale; sisters, Doris Campbell of Thorndale and Lou Ann Towery of Thorndale; and four grandchildren, Syble Moore, Drew David, Alyson David and Alisha David.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 1998, at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 13, 1998, in the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 N. IH-35, Pflugerville, with Reverend Bill Fulton officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3:30 p.m. Friday, at the Locklin Cemetery in Thorndale.
For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
