Funeral Held
At San Gabriel


Funeral services for Mrs. Dora Ellen Locklin, 83, were held at 2 p. m. Wednesday at the San Gabriel Baptist Church with burial in the Locklin cemetery at San Gabriel.

The Rev. William R. Parmer, pastor of the San Gabriel church, officiated at the services. Mrs. Locklin died at 12:10 a. m. Tuesday in a Taylor Hospital.

Mrs. Locklin had been a resident of Thorndale for the past 40 years. She was born April 18, 1880, at McNeary [sic], Tennessee, daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. N. B. Gamble, now deceased. She moved to Texas with her parents when she was about 10 years of age and the family settled in San Gabriel.

She married the late William A. Locklin at San Gabriel on September 3, 1899. Her husband preceded her in death on May 30, 1938.

Survivors include a son, James E. Locklin of Thorndale; three daughters, Mrs. R. M. Shavers, Mrs. Henry Shavers and Mrs. Orby Hollowell, all of Thorndale; two brothers, George Gamble and Frank Gamble, both of Buckholts; also 12 grand-children and 23 great-grand-children.

Pallbearers were Buster Guthrie, Joe Yeager, Donley Gilbreath, Erwin Meiske, Jackie Towery and H. H. Campbell.

Mrs. Locklin was a member of the San Gabriel Baptist Church for 69 years. She had lived in Thorndale for the past 40 years and have been in failing health for the past several years.
