Evelyn Joyce Crosby Major passed away on Friday, July 27, 2007, at 2:30 p.m. She was at home surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. Ms. Major was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She loved to travel, tend a garden, cook and relive cherished times growing up in Crosby, Miss. She was a graduate of Crosby High School, Louisiana Business College and attended LSU. A member of the Baptist faith, she converted to Catholicism upon marrying Jimmie R. Major.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Tennyson Asbury Sibley; her second husband, Jimmie Randall Major; her parents, Robert L. Crosby Sr. and Elizabeth Moak Crosby; and devoted caretaker, Nancy Tynes Guerin.

She is survived by daughters, Luanne S. Estess and Kandice S. Boatwright and husband J. Douglas Boatwright; granddaughters, Ellen E. Cvitanovich, Kim C. Estess and Aimee E. Hulett; grandson, Todd D. Boatwright; great-granddaughters, Mary Elizabeth and Emily Anne Cvitanovich; great-grandson, Justin Dean Hulett; expected great-granddaughter, Elle Crosby Hulett; a sister, Geraldine C. Bock; two brothers, Robert L. Crosby Jr. and the Rev. William T. Crosby; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her daughters wish to extend heartfelt gratitude for the devotion of caretakers, Avis "Tootsie" Abshire and Jeanette Tynes. Their love and care provided Ms. Major with great quality of life.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to International Rett Syndrome Foundation, 4600 Davitt Drive, Cincinnati, OH 45246, (800) 818-RETT or http://www.rettsyndrome.org.

Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., until service. Graveside service will follow at Roseland Cemetery in Gloster, Miss.
