William P. Connell, III, 77, of Stoneham died on Saturday, August 31 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford. Born in Melrose on July 24, 1936 he was the son of the late William P. Jr., and Gertrude (Hankinson) Connell. Mr. Connell was raised in Malden. He had served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. Mr. Connell was a member of the Stoneham Redmen Club and American Legion. He enjoyed summers in Maine.

Mr. Connell is survived by his wife Claire, five children, and grandchildren.
