Jackie Renee Call Merritt, 63, died on Sept 12, 1999 in Provo, UT of complications from diabetes.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Sept 15, 1999, in Provo. Graveside service will be held on Friday, Sept, 17, 1999, at 11 a.m. at the Bedford Cemetery in Bedford.
She was born in Afton to Carwin C. and Wilda Jensen Call on Oct 9, 1935. She grew up in Afton where she graduated from Star Valley High School in 1954. She married LaVere B. Merritt, of Thayne, on Jan 5, 1956 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She and LaVere served a 2 1/2 year LDS mission to Samoa 1960-1962.
She lived in Provo for the past 29 years. she was a devoted wife, mother and friend and a stalwart member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in numerous positions throughout her life. Over many years as diabetes sapped her health and energy, she responded courageously with increased determination and love.
She is survived by her husband, professor of civil and environmental engineering at BYU, Provo; two sons and two daughters; Lynn T. Merritt of West Valley City; Shaun S. Merritt of Provo; Teri Tonata of Elk Ridge UT and Rachel R. Merritt of Provo; six grandchildren; two brothers and one sister; Tony I Call of Auburn WA; Farrell F. Call of Cascade MT and Linda Sanderson of Cheyenne.
Donations to the American Diabetes Association, 340 E. 400 S., SLC UT. 84111 are requested in lieu of flowers.
