Mary 'Mollie' E. Beason Evans Barnes was born in Greene County, Ohio, the daughter of William H Beason and wife Nancy Mendenhall Beason. One of three of six children that grew to adulthood. Her first husband, Ellis E. Evans, who she married in 1857, died of a disease contracted in 1863 while a soldier serving at Vicksburg, Mississippi. Having 4 young children, she remarried in 1867 to Alfred L. Barnes. They had one daughter, Clarinda A. Barnes. Following Alfred's death in 1904, she moved from Missouri to Carroll Co., Arkansas where it is said she died on 11 Mar 1906.
