Henry LaMont Fluckiger died of a heart attack on June 16, 1997 at his home in Thayne.
A viewing was held Friday June 20 at the Fluckiger home in Thayne and a funeral service was held Saturday, June 21, in the Thayne 1st Ward. LaMont was buried in the Bedford Cemetery next to his parents Jacob Henry Fluckiger and Leonara Clara Schmidt.
LaMont was born on Dec 15, 1930 at 8 a.m. at the home of his maternal grandparents Adam and Anna Schmidt in Providence UT. He was raised in Bedford. In his youth he worked at a sawmill with Jim Gomm and drove a truck for Wilford Fluckiger's store. He joined the National Guard during his senior year in high school and was activated on Sept 11, 1950, serving during the Korean Conflict.
LaMont married Nada White of Thayne on Dec 27, 1950 in the Idaho Falls Temple. After graduating from Utah State University, he and Nada moved to California where he was employed by Del Monte Corporation for 30 years as a production planner and financial analyst. In 1985, he retired and moved with Nada back to Thayne.
His greatest joys were in serving God and his family. He worked in a variety of positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including scouting and was awarded the Boy Scouts of America Silver Beaver award. Throughout his life he performed in many church and community programs, playing the harmonica, singing and telling stories and poems.
He is survived by his brother Standford Fluckiger, his wife Nada White Fluckiger and his children, Jarene, Kellan, Markell, Ezdan, Deulene and Celynn.
He is preceded in death by his son Ialen.
