Graveside service for Mr. R. D. "Joe" Achord will be at 11 am Saturday, January 4, 2020, at Fern Park Cemetery in Natchitoches. The family will receive friends from 9 am until 10:45 am on Saturday the 4th at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home.


R.D. Achord passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2020, in Dallas, Texas at the age of 88. R. D. "Joe" was born in Castor, Louisiana on October 16, 1931, to Ralph and Lena Achord. He lived in Natchitoches for a number of years where several of his family members reside today. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. R.D. retired after many years of service as a timekeeper at the port in Houston, Texas where he lived for over 40 years. He loved to spend his vacations at the beach on Galveston Island with friends and family. He will be dearly missed.


He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Maudie Achord Guin, Johnnie Achord

Russell, Ally Achord Thomas, Lilian Achord, and Estella Achord Kile; brothers, R. L. Achord, and Wallace Achord; and infant son, Clarence Achord.
