Rick Beery was born and grew up in Alaska, leaving only when he served in the U.S. Navy for two tours of duty in Vietnam. In 1997, Rick worked as an electrician and lived in Big Lake in the Matanuska Valley, north of Anchorage. Rick was 48-years old. He was shot and killed by Paul Stavenjord along with his wife Deborah Rehor Beery the same weekend. In 1998 Paul Stavenjord was convicted of his murder
