Henry J. "Hank" Blossy, 83, a resident of Somers, NY, since 1986 and former Larchmont resident of 54 years, passed away in his sleep on April 16, 2003. He was born in Astoria, NY, on September 24, 1919, the son of Henry and Jane Blossy. Hank graduated from Mamaroneck High School in 1938 and then went on to receive his Bachelor of Science Degree from Fordham University in 1942. He was a Marine Corps Captain during WWII, seeing action in the Okinawa Campaign as an Artillery Battery Commander. He was discharged with honors in 1946. Hank retired in 1985 from his position of 32 years as Assistant Director of Public Relations and Assistant Director of Communications for the Public Affairs Division of the Pfizer Pharmaceutical Company of New York. Of the many duties and accomplishments while at Pfizer, he was especially proud of his editorial work. He founded the Pfizer "Pulse" newspaper and later established the Pfizer "Scene" magazine in 1953. He also coordinated the Publication of Pfizer's Annual Report, which won praise and was rated in the top 10 in its field on numerous occasions during his tenure. He was an avid sportsman, having played high school hockey, football, and track, then went on to semi-pro football in 1941 with the Mamaroneck All-Stars. He was a high school football official and loved to bowl and play golf with his family and friends. He also served as Commissioner for the Town of Mamaroneck Recreation Commission and was a proud part of the Development of the Hommocks Park Ice Skating Facility in Mamaroneck. Hank was also a member of the Mamaroneck High School Hall of Fame. Hank was a beloved husband to his wife Jacqueline "Jackie" of over 60 years. He was a loving and caring father to his children, Andrew, Christine, Paul, and late son Steven. He is also loved and survived by his son-in-law Gregory and daughter-in-law Manuela, as well as a proud grandfather of Christopher, Devin, Steven, and Hannah. Visiting hours will be Friday evening between 5-9 pm at JOHN J. FOX FUNERAL HOME, in Larchmont. The funeral service will be 10 am Saturday at St. Augustine's Church. JOHN J.
