Eliza Jane Reynolds was the daughter of Daniel Reynolds 1801-1886 and Sarah Christina Larue 1802-1887 of Pleasants County, West Virginia. On January 8, 1856 she married Calvin B. Benson in Pleasants County. He was the son of James C. Benson and Margaret Trimble of Virginia.
The couple migrated first to Kansas Territory where Calvin was appointed U.S. Postmaster, and then bought a farm in Arkansas. They farmed there until the late 1890's, when the couple separated. Eliza Jane and their youngest daughter Pearl migrated to Wyoming, where Eliza Jane worked as a Domestic in Lost Cabin, Fremont County. She died in 1902, and in 1903 Pearl married a local ranch hand, Alfred Alonzo "Lon" Leathers. The couple continued to work in ranching until they migrated to Woodland, Cowlitz, Washington.
Calvin B. Benson worked the family farm in Arkansas until he became a resident of the U.S. National Homes for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers in Leavenworth, Kansas. Before he died, he lived with their daughter Harriet (Whitaker) in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
