Daniel P. Bittel, Sr, 74, of Merrimack passed away on Thursday January 8, 2015 at Concord Hospital after a short period of declining health.

He was born on September 9, 1940 in San Jose, CA to the late Joseph and Anna (Bookson) Bittel. Dan graduated from San Jose High School in 1958, completed a training course with Officer Training School, and later graduated from San Jose State University.

Dan was a member of the U.S. Army and National Guard from 1962 – 1976 and obtained the rank of Major before leaving service. After leaving the Army, Dan worked as a facilities engineer and plant manager for Unitrode Corporation, and was in the top 10% of his field until leaving to start his own company, Bittel Enterprises, in 1997.

Along with his parents, he was also pre-deceased by two brothers, Greg and David.

Surviving members of his family include his loving wife of 26 years, Terry (Manfra) Bittel; four sons, Daniel Bittel, Jr, William DeMascio, and Brian and Eric Bittel; three daughters, Lisa Williams, Amy Bittel DuPont and Peggy Lee DeMascio; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; several cousins and nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held at the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack on Monday January 12 from 4 – 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 130 Spitbrook Road, Nashua on Tuesday January 13 at 11 AM. Following cremation, burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
