Hilary (Phil) Bartkowski Sr., of 1041 Carmalt St., Dickson City, died Saturday at home. His wife, the former Josephine Rook, died April 9, 1987.
Born in Dickson City, he was the son of the late Frank and Antoinette Rolka Bartkowski. He was employed at the Miles Slope Hudson Coal Co., and prior to retirement he was employed as an inspector for PennDOT.
He was a member of St. Mary's Visitation Church, Dickson City: He attended Dickson City public schools and he is the last of the Bart Brothers basketball team which played in the area in the 1930s.
Surviving are two sons, Hilary Jr. and Thomas, both of Dickson City; two sisters, Sister M. Jolanta, Felician Order, Stationed at St Josephs Hospital Philadelphia, Helen Myak, Dickson City, six grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by nine brothers, Joseph, Anthony Chester, John, Alex, Walter; Frank, Stanley and Alfred; nine sisters, Lucy Mazur, Lottie Shakowski, Rose Stash, France Krieski, Ann Fedmik, Tessie, Charlotte, Loretta and Wand Bartkowski.
The funeral will be 9 a.m. Wednesday from the Frank P Mazur Funeral Home, Inc., 519 Dundaff, St., Dickson City, with I Mas at 9:30 a.m. in St Mary's Visitation Church. Interment, parish cemetery. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
