Obituary for Mrs. Lucy Mae Phillips
Lucy Mae Phillips was born on June 1, 1934 to the union of Equilla
and Ed Reed in Dyersburg, Tennessee. The family moved to Milwaukee,
Wisconsin in 1937. Lucy received her formal education at St. Benedict
Catholic School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Lucy accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. She later became
a born-again Christian and united with Christ The King Baptist Church.
She served as a faithful member until her passing.
Lucy was united twice in holy matrimony with the late Charles
Carter and the late Walter Phillips, both of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The
"Carter" union was blessed with ten children.
Lucy was employed by Milwaukee County Hospital as a Nursing
Assistant; she also held the position as a crossing guard for the
Milwaukee Public School District.
Lucy enjoyed life as well as cooking, singing, playing Bingo,
cards, wearing red lipstick with her nails polished red as well!
Lucy was a member of the Clinton Rose Center where she loved
to socialize with friends.
Lucy Mae Phillips entered into the restful home of Our Lord Jesus
Christ on March 31, 2018. She was preceded in death by her mother,
Equilla Reed; father, Ed Reed; two sisters, Odessa Watson and Teanna
Reed; two daughters, Debra Ann Carter and Hattie Mae Carter-Pritz,
and two sons-in-law, Thomas Johnson and Samual Ridgeway.
She leaves to cherish her memory: two sisters, Patricia Crumble and
Rose Marie Lue-Hing, one brother, Ed Reed; eight children, Marjorie
(Marvin) Parrott, Carlotta Johnson, Lisa Caruthers all of Milwaukee,
WI, Catherine Ridgeway of Florida, Carolyn (Alfredo) Gracia of Texas,
Irma (David) Ginn of Baton Rouge, LA, Jerome (Loraine) Carter and
Thomas E. Carter both of Milwaukee, WI. She also leaves a host of
loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
