A native of the Raybon area in Brantley County and a son to the late Cecil Van Buren Herrin and Vera Louvade Robinson Herrin;; also preceded in death by his sister Marilyn Lavaye Herrin.
His paternal grandparents were the late William Henry and Mamie Elizabeth (Highsmith) Herrin.
His maternal grandparents were the late Francis Donald (Frank) and Nora Belle (Lewis) Robinson.
Jerry was a graduate of Nahunta High School Class of 1960 and graduated from South Georgia Trade & Vocational School in Americus in Electronics Technology.
He enlisted in the Air Force and served in Vietnam and received the Air Force Commendation Medal. After leaving the Air Force Herrin worked for CSX and retired in 2005 from CSX Transportation as a Communication Technician.
Herrin's hobbies were genealogy, music, photography, electronics, computers and watching TV and he attended the Raybon Advent Christian Church.
Herrin is survived by many cousins.
A funeral service was held Saturday afternoon, May 21, 2022, at Raybon Advent Christian Church with Rev. Hilton Morgan officiating his service then following burial into the Rob Lewis Cemetery next to his parents and sister.
Pallbearers were Brian Herrin, Joe Jacobs, Jamie Chesser, Bill Herrin, Timmy Herrin, Chuck Connors and Trey Keene.
Arrangements were with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
