A Pittsburgh EMS ambulance transporting a woman who later died from her gunshot wound collided with a second ambulance, requiring a third ambulance to transport her to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital where she was later declared dead.

The victim went into cardiac arrest in the ambulance prior to the harrowing crash.

"It is unclear why the vehicles collided or whether anyone was at fault," wrote Public Safety Department spokesman Chris Togneri. "The collision did not affect, interfere with or halt treatment to the patient as medics continued administering aid until the new ambulance arrived."

ShotSpotter alerted police to the shootings at the corner of Collier and Kelly streets in Pittsburgh's Homewood South neighborhood.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victims as Kierra Eddisha Harris, 26, of McKees Rocks, and Lavon Sizemore, 29, of Swissvale, who died at the scene.

On the same corner where the shooting happened stands an historic house of worship, Holy Cross Episcopal Church.

"We know that the woman who was murdered, her son, 7 or 8 years old, he was a part of our summer program," the Rev. Torrey Johnson, pastor of Holy Cross Episcopal Church, told Pittsburgh's Action News 4.

"We have to be concerned about the least, the lost, and the left out, because this act, this senseless act steps from our door should teach all of us, show all of us that we have to do better," Johnson said.

The pastor also had a message for the killer.

"You will be caught, you will be prosecuted, and whatever caused you to do what you did, it's wrong and you should turn yourself in," Johnson said.

The investigations of the double homicide and of the crash are both continuing.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call police at 412-323-7800. Anonymous calls will be accepted.
