Born in Jersey City to her late parents, Anna and Anthony Abate, she lived in Brick and Toms River for part of her life before moving to Somerset 14 years ago.
Emma enjoyed spending time with her family especially her children and grandchildren. She loved to make unique knitwear and other handmade gifts for family, friends and caregivers. She was a special and kind person who will be missed tremendously by all who knew and loved her.
Emma is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Fred (2004); three brothers, Joseph, Ray, and Anthony; four sisters, Catherine Abate, Anna Frost, Marie Addeo, and Margaret Bellino.
Surviving are her two dear sons, Paul and wife Anna of Bridgewater, NJ, and James and wife Janine of Mt. Laurel, NJ; her loving daughter, Janet Prumachuk of Somerset, NJ; two cherished grandchildren, Laura and Joseph; two adored great-grandchildren, Ellie and Anthony; and her dog, Peppy.
Viewing will be held Tuesday, November 19, 2019 from 3-7pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876. Funeral services will start with a prayer at the funeral home on Wednesday November 20, 2019 at 9:45am followed by a 10:30am funeral liturgy at St. Bernard R.C. Church in Bridgewater. Interment will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery.
