Daughter of Ensign Morton Harman and Edna Martha Frances Kirwin.

Wanda married Allan Arthur McPherson 1/2/1945.

Wanda was born at home in Schulter, Oklahoma. At the age of 11, during a January blizzard, her father was run down by a drunk as he tried to get a mama cow and calf back in to his truck after they got out of the barn. Her mother was at home with her newborn baby girl. Wanda's mother on her own, raised four children through the Great Depression. Her son Burl and Wanda both graduated 1.5 years early in order to be able to get jobs and help support the two younger girls. Wanda went to Oklahoma City, where she got a job as a file clerk, then an assistant accountant. She lived in a Professional Women's Sorority where she met Allan Arthur McPherson, her future husband who was a Naval Flight Instructor based in Norman at a combined dance Event for Naval Officers and Sorority girls. After a brief stay in Tampa, where they married, Wanda and Allie (aka Mac) went to California, Allan's home. Wanda worked as an accountant at a bank in Berkeley while Allan finished college at UC Berkeley. Wanda, who was quite shy, joined the Toastmasters to help her gain confidence. In 1948, they moved to Kay Park, Tam Valley/Mill Valley, CA. In 1949, they had a daughter, followed by a son in 1952. Wanda became a stay-at-home mother for the duration. However, both Allan and Wanda were very civic minded and she was Auxiliary Chair to his Asst Fire Chief for the Tam Valley Volunteer Fire Department as well as head of the Women's Auxiliary to the Tam Valley Improvement Club when Allan was Chair. Both of them acted in the Rhubarb Revue a long standing cabaret comedy variety show, that raised money to improve the community. When Allan was asked to take the lead in professional activities for Owens-Illinois at Conventions, Wanda always chaired activities for the wives. In 1967, Wanda went back to school for her Associate degree, then went on to Santa Jose State where she graduated with honors in Accounting. After Allan retired, they moved to Paradise and were active at St. Nicholas Chapel (now Church). Allan, an inveterate fisherman wanted his ashes to be scattered at the North Fork of the Eel River so they would "float downstream past all his favorite fishing spots." When Wanda was diagnosed in 1985 with multiple myeloma, she told Allan, "don't you dare put me in that darned cold river!" Allan, up to the day she died, did not believe she would predecease him, so Wanda's ashes sat for 6 months in the under-alter columbarium at St. Nicholas, until Allan bought a plot at Paradise Cemetery (#34, Row A of the Masonic Section) where they rest together today.
