Duane Paul Powers, 81, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, in Garland, Texas. He was born on Sunday, November 7, 1937, to his parents, Lewis Calvin Powers and Elsie Margaret Powers in Pittsburg, Kansas. Duane Paul Powers will be sincerely missed by his loving family, his devoted friends and all the wonderful individuals who knew and loved him.
He married Marilyn Jo Chandler on October 15, 2005 in Rockwall, Texas. He was a Lt. Col. in the Air Force, retired in 1982 after 23 years of service ; joined E-Systems in December, 1982. He served in the Air Force from July 7, 1959 – November 30, 1982 as a Lieutenant Colonel.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn Powers , Garland, Texas, daughters Patti Herbert, Sachse, Texas, Paula Powers, Sachse, Texas, son Gary Powers, Sachse, Texas, grandchildren Taylor, Riley, Joey, Sam and Kaci, great grandchildren Aydin, Tristan and Emmalynn.
He was preceded in death by children Jeff Powers – son, Lynn Grace Herbert – grandchild and Patrick Powers – brother.
He loved baseball, square & round dancing and clogging.
Visitation for Duane Paul Powers will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church 801 W. Avenue D. Garland, TX 75040.
