She was the 5th child of 8 born to Henry and Annie "Laura" Simpson.

At age 7, on Thanksgiving Day in 1923, a horrific car/train accident claimed the life of her father Henry Simpson. Henry was not at fault. Her father was only 37. Her oldest brother William "Harold", age 11, was thrown from the vehicle and miraculously survived. Her youngest brother James "Jimmy" was later born posthumously in April 1924. Her father had co-owned the Hope Ice Company in Hope, Arkansas with his brothers. All who knew her father shared in this heartbreak.

Evelyn, was a mother figure at a young age and the foundation for all of her siblings. She had a tremendous responsibility that she took on with courage when her daddy passed away to help her mama and her grandma Annie (her mama's mama). Then again when her mama passed away she was a mother figure to her six brothers with her grandma Annie ... more about her life ...

Evelyn Simpson and Robert Goforth fell in love and were married in Saline County, Arkansas. Through this loving union there was one daughter. She was a resident of Alexander, Arkansas. She retired from the VA hospital in Little Rock. She was a member of the Highway Church of Christ in Benton. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the ABWA Board. People would notice a physical trait of some members of her (our) family of having larger gorgeous blue eyes and some with a more striking unusual blue color. Aunt Evelyn had the most beautiful of all, similar to a robin's egg blue. People would say Evelyn was quite stunning and Bob was very handsome with those brown eyes. Their only child, a daughter, was known for looking like a young Liz Taylor.

While continuing to live in Arkansas where she was born, she maintained the family home until the early 1980's. Heartbreakingly, my aunt, the sister, a mother figure to my dad sadly passed in 1991.

When they were older, a precious note was written to my dad (Herbert) from his sister Evelyn saying, "I think the Lord's Prayer in verse is beautiful. Mama loved the Lord's Prayer. It was in with her things". So I will enter it here for the love of their mama and daddy, my grandpa and grandma ❤ Henry and Laura ❤ and a loving bond never broken between a sister and a brother.

✝ Lord's Prayer ✝

Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever.

Amen.
