She was the mother of six children, five of whom are living and one dead, and she leaves nine grandchildren. Her oldest son, Isaiall was married to Lucy Long, daughter of Isaac Long, deceased, and lived adjoining the old mansion farm. Her second son David died in infancy. John W., the third son, was an invalid from his birth. Powerless to use his limbs, helpless as a babe, he has been a great charge to those at attneding him, as he could not even feed himself. He never ate a single bite but what was put in his mouth by another hand. His mother took the care upon herself and fed and cared form him for thirty-nine years. She lent him her most anxious care as only a loving mohter could. Although his limbes are inactive, his senses are keen and he sadly feels the loss of a mother. He has a friend in whom he trusts greater than a mother, he mournsfor her and well he may. He has other friends and no doubt but they will do all in their power to comfort him and make his life as happy as possible. Still there's none can filla mother's place; no hand can caress as a mother's hand; no love like a mother's love. Martha A. her onl;y daughter was married to Aaron Sweager and lives near Zella. James L. the fourth son, who lives on the old homestead, and with whom the mother lived and died was married to Alice Bixler, daughter of Henry Bixler, of near Eshcol. Thomas B. Campbell the fifth son, was married to Lizzie M. only daughter of James Latchford, Esq., of Markelville, and who lives also near the old homestead. The deceased was buried at Eshcol on the 2nd inst, where there was a large collection of friends and neighbors to pay their last respects to the mother. The servicde was conducted by Rev. Gardner, of the U.B., minister, who made a few appropriate remarks and addressed words of consolation to the crippled son before starting to the church, as it was impossible for him to go to the cemetery.
The text selected for the occasion was "We all do fade as a leaf"--part of the sixth verse of the 64th chapter of Isiall. He preached as able and eloquent sermon, after which service ther was quite a number returned to the house to sympathise with the crippled son.
