Ernest Bruce “Mike” Miller, son of Ernest and Rosalee Carter Miller, was born July 2, 1941, near Buckner, Missouri. He departed this life Thursday, January 22, 2009, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of sixty-seven years, six months, and twenty days. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mike is survived by a son, Michael Miller, and his wife, Selina, of Lebanon, Missouri; two daughters, Tammy Moyer, and Peggy Mills, both of Lebanon, Missouri; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert Miller, and Lewis Miller, both of Lebanon, Missouri, and Hughey Miller, of Bluffton, Indiana; two sisters, Dorothy Light, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Patsy Montgomery, of Independence, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; a special friend, Corey Doane, of Lebanon, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was raised in the Stoutland and Lebanon areas and attended Stoutland and Lebanon Schools. He then enlisted in the United States Army and served his country faithfully during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Vietnam and in Germany before being given an honorable medical disability discharge in 1968. He returned to the Lebanon area where he married Mae Ellen Blackburn, and together they raised their three children. Mike had attended the Flatwoods Bible Church, near Lebanon, Missouri. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing at lots of different locations, and collected antiques and pocket knives. He greatly liked going to auctions which is where he was able to add to his collections. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mike was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday January 27, 2009 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm until time of service under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. A memorial has been established to the Disabled American Veterans. Donations may be made through the funeral home.
