Fredric George Mantei, Jr., (89) of Lake Placid, Florida passed away on July 3, 2007. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, on March 12, 1918 to Frederick and Maria Hildebrandt Mantei, who preceded him in death, along with his niece, Joan Kirbach. Survivors are son, Robert W. Mantei and wife, Martha, of Pleasanton, CA.; daughters, Judi Braddick of Plano, Texas, and Patricia Titko and husband, Thomas, of Chandler, AZ.; brother, Robert Mantei and wife, Beatrice, of St. Augustine, Florida; six grandchildren: Lori Johnson, and husband Michael, Jonathan Braddick, and Jason Titko, all of Dallas, TX.; Justin Titko, and wife Laura, of Frisco, TX.; Brian Titko of Aubrey, TX ,and Ashley Tiko of Chandler, AZ, and eleven great-grandchildren:

Courtney Titko, Nikole Tiko, Miranda Tiko. Aria Tiko, Greyson Tiko, Gavin Titko, Noah Johnson, Caden Titko, Christian Johnson, Ruth Braddick, and Marianne Braddick. He was active both mentally and physically until a recent fall which led to his passing. A life long numismatist, Fred was extremely proud of being appointed to the 1974 United States Assay Commission by President Nixon. He was a past president of the Flushing Coin Club in New York and he was recently honored by the American Legion for 50 years of membership He was employed by Roosevelt Savings Bank of Brooklyn for over 40 years. A long time resident of Glendale, New York, Fred moved to Florida at the age of 81. He was a member of St Mark's Lutheran Church, 30 Jefferson Street, Brooklyn, NY 11206 until his move to Florida. He was currently a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, 25 Lakeview Avenue, Lake Placid, Florida 33862. Memorial donations may be sent to either church. Interment was at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
