S/O Norman D. Abbey & Chasie M. Abbey

Obituary, Holloway Funeral Home (Salisbury, MD), Oct 2019:

Seth Patrick Abbey, 18 of Salisbury, died unexpectedly on Sunday October 6, 2019.

Born in Salisbury on September 4, 2001 almost two months early, he was the loving son of Norman D Abbey of Salisbury and Chasie M Abbey of Parsonsburg.

Seth graduated with the class of 2019 at James M Bennett High School. He was employed at Poultry Supply in Pocomoke City MD and formerly at Calloway Farms in Mardela MD. Seth had yet to decide on his long-term career path, other than he knew he had to do physical labor that involved working outside and getting dirty. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed dirt bikes and four wheeling, as well as mudding and doing burn outs. Although he played many sports at a young age, he developed a natural talent and love for baseball. He will forever be #25. He played for Fruitland Little League, West Salisbury Little League, which gave him the opportunity to be on the 2016 Junior Little League World Series team; as well as travel teams with Shockers Baseball, Man Up Baseball and Delmarva Aces and in high school on the James M Bennett baseball team. He always had something humorous to say and had a humble heart. Any friend of his, was forever.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two loving extra parents, Jessica Doll of Salisbury MD and Kevin Guthrie of Parsonsburg; two sisters Megan Abbey (Jon Wood) and Amanda Abbey both of Salisbury MD; three future step-sisters, Brooklyn, Kaitlyn and Emily; grandparents, James and Nadine Henchliffe of Fruitland MD; grandmother Sandra Truitt of Parsonsburg MD; grandmother Emma Abbey of Princess Anne MD; future step-grandparents George Guthrie of Salisbury MD and Ruby Riggin of Salisbury MD; aunt, Sunny Truitt and uncle Mark Hudson of Hebron MD; aunt Ali Griffin (Shawn) of Fruitland, MD; uncle David Abbey of Princess Anne MD; uncle James Abbey of Princess Anne MD; aunt Karen Guthrie of Charleston SC; niece Kimberleigh Abbey of Salisbury MD; cousins Rebecca Hall of Princess Anne MD , Taylor and Connor Griffin of Fruitland MD and Christopher Abbey of Princess Anne; his girlfriend Brianna Bradley of Fruitland MD; his best friend since toddlerhood, Blake Corbin; as well as all of his baseball families and a large extended family and friends.

The family would like to personally thank the outpouring love and support from the community, all his friends, friends’ parents, and all of his coaches. The love felt for Seth is overwhelming and humbling. No words can express their gratitude.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Patrick “P.K.” Truitt; grandfather, David E Abbey and his great-grandmother “Memaw”, Elizabeth Hearn.

Funeral Service will take place Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 12:00pm at Delmarva Evangelistic Church, 407 Gordy Rd, Salisbury, MD 21804. Visitation will take place two hours prior to the service from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Parsons Cemetery in Salisbury, followed by a luncheon and time of fellowship to be held at the Christian Community Center across from the church. Due to the uncertainty of the amount of people that may attend, one covered dish per family dropped off before the service would be appreciated.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Westside Little League in Salisbury MD.

Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home, P.A., 501 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury, MD 21804. To send condolences to the family, please visit www.hollowayfh.com .
