Louisa Hammonds was the fourth wife of David Gilbert of Limestone Co., AL. The exact year when she married David has not been be determined, but it was sometime between 1837 and 1845 based on the age of her first child and the age of the last child of David's third wife. Louisa was the daughter of James C. Hammonds who died in Giles County in 1860. This can be proven by estate records for James in Giles County. I was told by Hammonds researchers that her mother was James' first wife Dorcas who died in 1845.
