William Laub
William Austin Laub was born November 10, 1885 and died June 21, 1974. Mr. Laub was a Mason for 57 years and a member of the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine for 54 years. He belonged to Trinity Episcopal Church in Denison. On December 27, 1922, he was married to Mabel Kelly, also of Denison.

He attended school at a four room farm building where the Central School now stands. He studied for a year at St. John's Military Academy (now St. John's Northwestern Military Academy) at Delafield, Wisconsin. He was an oarsman in an eight man shell while at St. John's and he received a varsity letter. In 1904 he went to Ames and studied mechanical engineering for a year.

Laub worked for his father who had a livery barn in Denison. William Laub was a member of the Denison running team for five years and competed in tournaments. He also played full back and tackle when Denison had a town football team.

Services for Mr. Laub were held at Trinity Episcopal Church Friday, June 14. Interment was at the Oakland Cemetery. The Maxwell Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.
