Cleo Dean Cherryholmes, 89, of Sachse, Texas passed away on Friday, October 4, 2019, at Methodist Medical Center in Richardson, Texas with his family at his bedside.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2019, at the United Church of Crawfordsville with services conducted by Larry Fletcher. Interment with military honors will be held at Crawfordsville Cemetery. The Jones & Eden Funeral Home is assisting the family with local arrangements. Cleo Dean was born November 14, 1929, in Crawfordsville, Iowa the son of Kenneth and Doris (Fletcher) Cherryholmes. Cleo graduated from Crawfordsville (Iowa) High School in 1947 and received a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa in 1952. On September 25, 1955, he married Wanda Woodard, who survives in Sachse, Texas.

He was employed by Sylvania in Burlington, Iowa and later North American Phillips in Ottawa, Ohio as an electrical engineering manager for 41 years. After retirement in 1993, he moved to Sachse, Texas to be closer to his children. For several years in the mid-1950's, he served in the Army at their Electronics Proving Ground at Ft. Huachuca, Arizona.

Cleo liked to play softball, basketball, tennis and ping pong. He was active in his church in Ottawa, Ohio, singing in the choir for 26 years. Also, while in Ohio, he was an active member of the local Kiwanis Club. After retirement in Texas, he joined the Sachse Lions Club and the Vintage Radio and Phonograph Club, where he enjoyed collecting and restoring antique radios. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Richardson, Texas.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Cherryholmes of Sachse, Texas; son, Steven Cherryholmes of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Linda (Mark) Staller of Sachse, Texas; three grandchildren: Jennifer (Scott) Babus, Bethany (David) Bach, Katelyn Staller; three great-grandchildren: Logan Remillard, Olivia Grace Babus and Brayden Babus; brother-in-law James (Noy) Edgar of Crawfordsville, Iowa, and several nieces and nephews.

Cleo Dean was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Margery (Cherryholmes) Edgar of Crawfordsville, Iowa
