Musician. A tenor saxophonist, he is remembered as being a founding member of the 1970s Scottish funk music ensemble "Average White Band." He studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art where he met Roger Ball. Both Duncan and Ball later joined the late 1960s progressive rock group Mogul Thrash and each received the nickname the "Dundee Horns." After relocating to London, they formed "Average White Band" and would go on to enjoy commercial success with their signature hit "Pick Up the Pieces" which achieved a number one placing on the American Pop Charts and gold record status in 1975. They followed this with the Top 10 single "Cut The Cake" (1975). The group separated during the early 1980s but reunited in 1988. Duncan remained an active performer and went on to form "The 360 Band." He died from cancer.
