William Roy Gaddis Sr.
William Roy Gaddis Sr., 75, of Manchester passed away Aug. 3, 2002, after an 11 year valiant struggle with lymphoma.
He was born Dec. 29, 1926, in Akron to the late Frank L. and Violet P. (LeMasters) Gaddis. Mr. Gaddis was a veteran of World War II, having proudly served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne, retired after 33 years of service as a firefighter for the Akron Fire Department, and was a proud member of the "Jones Boys." He was an active member of Grace Christian Church, and was an avid hunter, golfer and dog lover.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Alice (Gilbert) of Akron, .
Family and friends may call today from 4 to 9 p.m. at Newcomer-Farley Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services and the Fireman's Last Alarm service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.
