Lillian Vivian Hertel, 93, Jamestown, ND died early Thursday morning September 12, 2019 at Eventide in Jamestown, ND.

Lillian Fregien was born June 29, 1926 at Jud, ND, the daughter of Albert Fregien and Bertha (Roloff) Fregien. She attended the local rural school No 3 in Mikkelson Township and grew to womanhood in the vicinity where she helped on her parents on the family farm.

She and Robert Hertel were married April 2, 1950 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Jud, ND. They made their home with her parents and later took over their farm. In 1985 they sold their equipment and Lillian cleaned and painted homes for people. She also cooked at the Jud School and worked part-time at the Jud Café. They entered the Jamestown Heritage Center in 2009. She entered Eventide in Jamestown in 2011 where she has resided. Robert passed away May 20, 2019.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Jamestown, ND. While in Jud she served as Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent for many years. She also was secretary for the Church in Jud. Lillian was a willing helper for any church.

Surviving is one son and daughter-in-law, Darrel and Sharon Hertel, Jud, ND; 5 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 15 great great-grandchildren;

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM Friday September 20, 2019 in the Haut Funeral Chapel and Celebration of Life Center in Jamestown, ND with Rev. Erik Weber, officiating

Interment will take place in the Jud Lutheran Cemetery, east of Jud.
