Billy Craig Acuff, 51, of Callahan, went home to be with the Lord June 29, 2009. He was born Oct. 15, 1957 in Jacksonville. He was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Callahan, where he taught Sunday School for sixth grade boys for over 20 years. He was also involved in Native American Ministry in Nebraska for the past four years. Craig was preceded in death by his father, Billie Joe Acuff, in February of this year. He is survived by his wife, Paula Acuff; his mother, Velma Acuff of Callahan; his sister, Carol (Randy) Love; two nephews, Joey (Kristen) Love and Jason (Jennifer) Love; two nieces, Haley Love and Bayleigh Love; and one nephew, Tyson Love; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Callahan, with Dr. D. Lynn Hyatt officiating. Interment will follow in Jones Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Church tonight from 6-8 p.m. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to First Baptist Church of Callahan, designated to the Native American Ministry.
