ELKHART — James Arthur Marks, 65, of Elkhart, passed away Friday, April 7, at Elkhart General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. James was born on Sept. 7, 1951, in Elkhart to Robert W. and Leita “Betty” E. (Miller) Marks.He is survived by five sons, Nichols P. Marks, Matthew J. Marks, Paul W. Marks, Daniel J. Marks and Benjamin P. “Ben” Marks; his daughter, Anna T. Marks; three grandchildren, Jayden, Brady and Serenity Marks; one brother, Phil Marks; and sisters, Barb Rose and Theresa Marks. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Patrick Marks. James formerly worked at Homan Lumber. He enjoyed reading, woodworking, comics and sci-fi. He was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #1043 and the IARA in Elkhart. He served in the United States Navy. Friends and family may call for two hours prior to the 4 p.m. Thursday, April 13, celebration of life service for James at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart. The Rev. Matthew Coonan of St. Vincent’s will officiate. The afternoon will conclude with military honors by the U.S. Navy Funeral Honor Guard and DAV #19.
